Mitigating lost pallets for a fresh food business.
20,000 Pallets missing
Health Check
Following an initial health check assessment and analysis we identified a risk of £204,800 in Lost Equipment Charges.
Identify leakage
We reviewed significant data and reviewed the processes within the business to identify areas of possible leakage.
Possible issues
We identified 2 areas within the account that were causing charges and possible fines which would be corrected.
Investigation
Following our investigation we alerted the supplier, and the pallet reversals took place on both areas which reduced the overall pallet balance and reduced daily spend by £42,000 per annum.
Savings
Pallets reversed and a further £45,000 credit generated for incorrect charging. Total saving c.£87,000 per annum.

What do you do?
4Side identifies all the areas of opportunity for savings, presents the findings and the customer decides on their preferred choice of commercialisation.
4Side will take on the management of your pooled pallet account. You outsource the activity to us, and we manage it on your behalf. You still keep your commercial relationship going, we just compliment this alongside the existing agreement.
How would you save us money?
We analyse your activity with our account health check to understand how you currently operate your pallet account and identify ways of streamlining it to reduce the trip fee.
Can you give us some examples?
We can offer a daily declaration service to reduce daily hire spend.
We can ensure you are not charged for pallets incorrectly put onto the account.
We ensure no fines for late declarations are charged and mitigate fines for lost pallets.
We will ensure charges for unknown locations are correct.
Can you manage other types of equipment?
Yes, we can support on pallets, white wood pallets, RPC, Containers, and other types of loose equipment you may have.
How does the pricing structure work?
We can be very flexible in pricing and will create a bespoke proposal for you based on what you need from us.
Do you work with all the pallet providers?
Yes, we work with CHEP, LPR and IPP.

We can manage your pallet tender on your behalf, by developing the RFQ right through to managing the final proposals.

Outsourced Equipment Management.
- Following extensive experience gained working at a leading global Equipment provider, we have significant knowledge in managing equipment accounts on your behalf. We can work with you to reduce your exposure to fines and penalties and your overall invoice spend. We will conduct a review of your account and invoice to make recommendations of how we can save you time and money. We can manage your pallet accounts with the major poolers in the UK&I and in Europe. This includes CHEP, IPP and LPR pallets.
White Pallet Management.
- We have a wide network of partners around the UK&I to help you with your white pallet needs. We can procure white wood pallets on your behalf and arrange for the management of this equipment or we can buy your excess wooden pallets to provide you a revenue stream.
Wholesale and Delivery Services.
- Let us support you with managing your wholesale product or delivery operations. We have a network of partners around the UK that can get your products to the right place at the right time. We have experience in managing wholesale contracts for the B2B market.
